Offering promotional products is a great way to get your brand’s name in front of a large audience, and if done right, stick with them for the long haul. Check out these 3 tips for leveraging promotional products at your next event.

1. Understand your audience
In order to leave a lasting impression on your audience, your products must be both trendy and practical. The last thing you want is to spend a portion of your event budget on items that will eventually end up in the bottom of someone’s purse, or worse, in the trash can. Offer products that attendees will use daily to allow your brand to literally remain close to them. Once that person is ready to utilize the products or services you have to offer, they will think of your brand first. Research what your event attendees do for a living, and think about what they could use on a daily basis. This is your brand’s chance to leave a lasting impression on people, so you’ll need to target your promotional items accordingly.

2. Know your options
Not every product will look exactly like the sample or virtual proof you receive. Research the different types of printing strategies. By determining what type of printing method will be best for the material of your products, you will avoid receiving something that is not what you expected. Most companies offer multiple options, such as digital print, deboss emboss, etch, laser engraving, pad print, or screen print.

3. Find a reliable source in the industry
Having someone you can count on is key. Don’t just go with a company because they allow you to create samples on your own and place orders within the same day. Chances are, you could get something completely different. As previously stated, not every product will match the sample or virtual proof you receive. Finding a reliable account executive will give you an outlet for asking any questions you have about products, or relaying any doubts you may have about a product. This person will also give you recommendations or show you alternative items that might work better than what you originally had in mind, so don’t be afraid to ask for help!
