Crafting a Short-Form Video Strategy for Your Restaurant

With an ever-shrinking consumer attention span, short-form videos have become increasingly popular across platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook. They can also help showcase your restaurant’s unique offerings, personality, and ambiance – ultimately enticing potential customers to visit.

Start with a bang 

You only have a few seconds to grab users’ attention with your video, so make sure it starts strong. You can use flashy visual effects, an eye-catching intro, or captivating audio to stop users from “mid-scroll.” Don’t forget to set an interesting or aesthetically pleasing thumbnail to draw people in when they’re viewing your page.

Choose the right video formats 

There are many different video formats to choose from: behind-the-scenes, product showcases, humorous skits, and employee spotlights. Choose the formats that you think will resonate most with your target audience AND the one that will effectively communicate your message!  

Use trending audio 

Whether it’s a popular song, a funny voiceover, or a detailed narration, your videos should always have audio. Using an existing audio clip not only saves time, but also keeps your content relevant, maximizes reach, and attracts users who are familiar with the sound. Most (if not all) social media platforms and editing applications have “trending” or “popular” sections in their audio selections to save time! Choose one that fits your video format and tone.

Focus on Visual Appeal

Visuals play a crucial role in attracting viewers’ attention. Make sure your videos are visually appealing by using high-quality footage, vibrant colors, and mouthwatering close-up shots of your food and drinks. Experiment with different angles, perspectives, and movements to make your content stand out. Do you have a signature sauce? Get pouring or dipping footage! Do you have a popular sandwich? Get footage of you cutting and showing off the individual layers of the sandwich!
