Coordinating Center

Building an Accessible, Easy to Use,
Brand-Building Website

Case Study

Challenge

When we first partnered with The Coordinating Center on their rebrand, the transformation represented more than a visual shift – it was a renewed promise to the people they serve: Your Health. Your Journey. Our Priority. The next step was bringing that promise to life online. The Coordinating Center supports individuals of all ages and abilities — many living with physical disabilities, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or complex medical needs. For these individuals and their families, navigating care systems can already feel overwhelming. Their website should be the last thing to add to that burden.

Two critical challenges emerged:

  1. Accessibility Was Non-Negotiable

The website needed to work for everyone – including users with mobility limitations, cognitive disabilities, and those relying on assistive technologies.

Accessibility wasn’t a compliance box to check but rather a central part of their mission of independence and inclusion

  2. Programs That Felt Overwhelming to Navigate

The Coordinating Center offers a wide range of programs and services.

But for families seeking out options, determining eligibility and understanding these programs could feel confusing and emotionally exhausting.

At the heart of the challenge was one question:

How do we design a website that feels as supportive, clear, and person-centered as the organization itself?

Solution

A Research-Driven, People-First Approach

Before design or development began, we listened. The Coordinating Center’s team conducted extensive front-end research, engaging coworkers, leadership, and stakeholders to understand what they needed the website to accomplish – not just from a marketing perspective, but from a human one.

This discovery phase ensured the website would reflect not only the new brand identity, but the lived experiences of the people delivering and receiving care.

Designing for Accessibility

We implemented enhanced accessibility features to support screen readers and assistive technologies, ensured strong color contrast and clear typography, simplified layouts to reduce cognitive overload, and reviewed content to maintain an accessible reading level.

Navigation was intentionally streamlined. Headlines became clearer. Calls to action became more direct. Every interaction was designed to reduce friction and empower users. We wanted the result to be a site that doesn’t just function, but welcomes.
