Wanted: Kick Ass Web Designer-full time/salaried position

Maryland advertising agency is seeking a kick ass web designer to assist with growing accounts. This position needs to be filled ASAP.

The Web Designer designs and assists in the development and management of assigned web projects for the agency and its clients. This person should be skilled at conceiving and designing websites that are visually inviting, functional, dynamic, effective, and capable of maintaining the brand image and achieving the strategic goals/objectives set forth in the overall Strategic Marketing Plan.

This person works with designated programmers, copywriters and content developers within the agency to produce, maintain and update content and design for agency produced and maintained websites.

The web designer also produces cutting edge online creative advertisements (banner ads, buttons, etc.) for assigned online advertising projects, in conjunction with a web programmer and based on provided creative briefs. This job function requires some familiarity with rich media and online bandwidth considerations.

The web designer should be capable of handling multiple projects and have strong interpersonal skills. This person should have a well-developed design sensibility and an eye for detail. The web designer must be a self-starter and have the ability to think outside of the box.

The web designer should have extensive knowledge of and experience in typographic, identity, web, information and interactive design. The web designer must have experience with programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Flash. Knowledge of web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, Javascript, PHP and MySQL is highly desirable. This person should also have extensive experience with and/or knowledge of web server hardware, site architecture, user interface requirements, web navigation, web page layout, cross platform issues, browser and platform compatibility and capability, animation, image compression, size and speed issues. Knowledge of WordPress and the ability to set up hosting accounts and services are required. A familiarity with ongoing SEO is a must. A degree in communications design or a related field is desirable.

Summer Intern – Job Description

Duties:

Researches, gathers and assembles background information and analyses as needed by AE and PnP teams in development of briefs, reports, etc.

Provides administration and assistance to AE and PnP teams on day to day activities for assigned clients, including internal job write ups, creating agendas and timelines, responding to client phone calls, handling mail/packages, Production and Creative deadlines, media placements, social media engagement etc., to ensure continued progress of client workflow.

Provides input in planning stage as requested by AE teams. Assists in mailings, word processing of final copy, agendas, timelines, internal and client reports, proposals, client estimates/quotes, client correspondence and other materials relating to account service and makes ready for client presentations.

Handles paperwork and maintains files on all of the client’s activities, maintain client copy, access information, forms/documents, etc.

Maintains “Client Notebooks” for all assigned accounts, detailing past work and work-in- progress, and all pertinent information needed for accurate proofreading and meeting of client standards.

By AE teams’ request, takes minutes at meetings, prepares and distributes follow ups, updated content, timelines, etc.

Makes sure all media and projects proceed according to plan and deadlines, drawing attention of AE to potential problems before they occur.

Is responsible for proofreading copy, artwork; sees that all work completes the standard agency approval process before being reviewed by clients or turned over to media or production vendors.

Works directly with Social Media Marketing (SMM) team and AE teams to facilitate all SMM efforts and integration points. Review and confirm to do lists, provide resources and information to internal team members, manage project timelines, schedule and participate in brainstorms, review content and manage client approvals.

Supports AE teams in handling and distributing client mail and invoices.

Qualifications:
